Our mission is simple. We aim to provide you with the highest quality core description and data integration, using the world's best technology.
About Us
Company Founder, geologist-sedimentologist Terry Eschner (right), has been describing and interpreting core for the petroleum industry for several decades, specializing in generating detailed descriptions and in the integration of core data with petrophysical, geological, geophysical and engineering data. He described core for decades using the manual (hand-drawn) graphic method. He was one of the advisers and beta-testers who helped guide Advanced Logic Technology (ALT, based in Luxembourg, www.ALT.lu) in the development of their WellCAD-CoreCAD core description/interpretation software. ALT's WellCAD-CoreCAD software has revolutionized the process of describing and interpreting core. Eschner has been a pioneer in the use of this software in core studies, is a power-user and trainer, and has now teamed-up with a group of talented associates who are also experienced users of WellCAD-CoreCAD.
Additional Core Description LLC's Senior Geologists are highly-skilled sedimentologists with significant international and domestic (USA) experience in core studies of both clastics and carbonates. They are also expert Senior Earth Scientists and Petroleum Geologists and Geophysicists with vast and diverse expertise in most aspects of exploration and production, including but not limited to; prospect generation, property evaluation, equity studies, sequence stratigraphy, genetic stratigraphy, petrography, geophysics, seismic stratigraphy, providing geologic input for simulation models, identifying new opportunities in old fields, structural geology, dipmeter-SCAT analysis, training/mentoring, and much more. |
Core Description LLC is committed to working with cores and core data in a fully-digital environment. Core descriptions are generated on laptop computers (the laptop has replaced the clipboard and paper template) while viewing laid-out core onsite, with all data elements being digital and fully compatible with data import and/or export in industry-standard formats such as Excel, LAS, ASCII, bitmap, emf, etc. Graphics are of the highest quality and no conventional drafting is required.
Many geologists (albeit there are fewer and fewer of these fossils) worldwide continue to describe cores using paper and pencil (i.e., the "manual method"), with descriptions later drafted into final products, and with critical data hand-entered into spreadsheets. This archaic workflow is inefficient, costly, slow, inaccurate and imprecise, and the resulting final products are inferior to and more expensive than those produced by modern digital methods. An increasing number of geologists recognize the benefits of, and are making the transition to, describing and interpreting cores using digital methods.
The era of digital core description and interpretation has arrived, improving results, enhancing integration among disciplines, and saving time and money. Core Description LLC is a leader in the application of digital core-description methods worldwide.
